Kinwashi translates to "Gold Washi" is a decorative paper which owes its name to its glossy, golden, manilla hemp fibres. These fibres are beaten, boiled, bleached and then mixed with Kozo fibres to give the paper its distinctive appearance. Despite its translucency, Kinwashi is thick and strong enough to be used for offset printing, provided the smoother of its two sides is printed on.
