Hand made.
100% kozo ; treated with dosabiki. Hardboard dried. 4 deckled edges. Used for lithography, water-based colours, pastel & book binding. Torinoko Kozo literally means "egg paper". Its off-white colour is that of an ostrich egg an it is sized with dosabiki for greater water-resistance. Though all nacreus washi are often collectively referred to as Imperial Japanese paper, this is the real thing! It was one of the first washi to be exported and enjoys a well-earned reputation as a paper o the highest quality. High quality of kozo from Shikoku were used to make this paper. As forming this paper by tamezuki method with long kozo fibers, it creates marble like pattern and has beautiful gloss on the surface. By applying press, the surface strength is increased. |
