Platinum leaf is whitish-silver in color and has warmer hues than palladium.
Platinum has the advantage of not tarnishing when exposed to atmospheric agents and is therefore recommended, like gold and palladium, for exterior applications.
The most suitable technique for decorating with platinum leaf is the oil sizing method, using a preliminary application of an adhesive with a water, varnish or alcohol base.
Loose leaf is used for gilding surfaces that are not completely flat, while transfer leaf adheres perfectly to flat surfaces and allows easy removal of the tissue paper backing.
Platinum leaf is manufactured in the Campi Bisenzo plant, in Florence, under conditions of rigorous quality control.
